Scrappy: La Cancha

Since I have a lot of new pictures to scrap, I'm finding tons of inspirations through sketches. I love how quickly a layout comes together after I plan it out when I'm in class (don't tell my professors!!). This layout is based off of the Sketchy Thursdays GDT Sketch:

I do not even have the words to describe how WILD our trips to the Cancha were in Cochabamba. It is an open air market where we bought most of our souvenirs and I learned to bargain. I think on our last trip (which is when this picture was taken) I was buying things just to bargain with the vendors. It was such a strange thing for me to get used to- being able to ask for a lower price and then having to walk away if you didn't get it for the price you wanted. Walking away was almost always the way to seal the deal for the price I wanted.

I dug deep into my stash as I'd really like to make room for a few new releases this summer. I loved these Pink Paislee papers, so much so that I hoarded the majority of them. It felt good cutting into brand new papers that have just been sitting around for over a year.

Scrappy: Paris- Sketchy Thursdays 6.03

This week's sketch at Sketchy Thursdays is fabulous and comes with a note to get messy. Seeing as though my hands are blue, and there may or may not be blue on the carpet...I think I succeeded in getting messy!!!

How have you gotten messy lately?

Scrappy: Sketchy Thursdays 5.27 Sketch

I'm so happy to be reunited with my scrappy supplies! This week I was in love with the Sketchy Thursdays Sketch. As soon as I developed my Bolivia pictures, I knew I had to scrap the pictures of the beautiful Lake Titicaca. I'm not sure I did the pictures justice, but here is my take on the sketch:

The journaling reads:
Even though I had altitude sickness and was exhausted, this was one of my favorite days in Bolivia. Simply Breathtaking.

The day that we vistied Lake Titicaca I was so tired due to the altitude and having an asthma attack, but it was such a gorgeous day, I had to do the best I could to enjoy this day.

Paulino Esteban- what an amazing man! So honored to have met him and see these amazing reed boats up close!

Delicious trout fresh from Lake Titicaca.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Memorial Day- remember those who have and continue to serve our country in times of wartime and in peace.

Scrappy: Sketchy Thursdays GDT Challenge

When I saw the GDT Challenge Sketch over at Sketchy Thursdays I was so inspired. The challenge was to use the sketch, the colors black, hot pink, and white, and an 80's inspired style. I knew that I had the best picture to use- my first day of Kindergarten. I loved this outfit and I've wanted to scrap this picture for a while and this was the perfect challenge!

Supplies: Bazill Cardstock, Basic Grey Paper, Doodlebug glitter. Kaiser Craft bling, Prima alpha, Buttons from stash

Sorry for the horrible picture quality- we're having another blizzard today. The wind is whipping and the snow is blowing. Here are some pictures from campus yesterday:

Don't forget to check out the Non-Stop Crop for Haiti that the AAM design team is hosting.

Scrappy: Joy

I created this layout completely backwards. I used sketchy thursday's 1.28.10 sketch as inspiration, picked out the papers, and created this layout without any pictures. I knew what I wanted to put on the layout, but just hadn't managed to get the pictures yet. For this layout I used the January Kit from My Scrapbook Nook, a prize won from the Prima blog (the adorable stitched letters, and some ribbon and pins from my stash.

Here is why I can't get any great pictures of my layouts. I feel like I haven't seen the sun in ages.

I still cannot believe that I've been selected as a DT Member for the All About Me Challenge Blog. Is this for real? i'm beyond excited and can't wait to get started in March!

What brings you joy?
